Don’t forget that Prosper can also earn referral fees. If registered users opt in Propser could refer them to mortgage companies, debt counsellers, loan insurers etc. Another potential source of income is franchise fees.
Zopa’s fee income is too low to reach profitability for years from its lending activities but its CFO claimed in an interview that the company has already broken even. This has proabably been achieved though referral fees or franchising.
Have not heard that Prosper does that (yet).
